Collaborating with The Print Center AISP 2015-2017

For 4 semesters in a row, I have had the pleasure of working with Ceramic artist Marguerita Hagan through The Print Center's Artist in Residency Program, with various groups of students at Northeast High School.  We have been able to work with clay and print materials/techniques in very innovative ways, all resulting in some unique, creative and meaningful projects.

Here are the highlights...

Fall 2015:  A Moment of Our Histories

Spring 2016: Beyond the Selfie

Fall 2017: Wonder in Micro/Macro

Spring 2017: Cherish

Balancing Life and Work, first ever Mom post!

I have been struggling for a few years to balance my personal life, artistic life, and career, as many adult artists do. I have been a dedicated craftsperson since about 2005; an art learner and lover since 2000, a teacher since 2001, a partner since 2005, a mother since 2012.  I have never really wanted to say this out loud or write this down, but it is very hard to be a good teacher, parent, friend, partner, and artist simultaneously and feel fulfilled!

But I try. Always.

Although I gave up my studio in Philly about a year and a half ago, I have been building my home studio up since we moved last summer, and do often retreat upstairs to create. I will be taking another ceramics class this summer at the Clay Studio to see some clay ideas come to fruition.

Last year I made a KID, #2 for me. She is amazing and they both keep my smiling and busy.

Today I made a garden. There is making in my life, and there is time. I am grateful for that.
