Delphi Art Futures Grant Mural Project - Northeast High School

This year I applied for and received a grant from the Delphi Foundation and the Philadelphia Museum of Art to work with a resident artist on a large-scale mural project. From February to April, we planned and installed a huge mural with over 75 students in my Art II classes. Our theme was the history and changing identity of Northeast. Students brainstormed ideas for the mural and visited the Art Museum to be inspired by other large-scale works of art. Artist Karla Siegel designed the finished mural based on student ideas and led students through the entire process of gridding, projecting images, painting, and installing tiles. Students hand-made ceramic tiles for the mural in their classes. They also worked on self-portraits based on poems they wrote and conducted interviews with community members as part of their class-based work. These images give an overview of the whole project. The students did a beautiful job on this project and I was honored to work with Ms. Siegel. The whole school is very proud of their new Identity Mural.

I got married to Owen at the Mask and Wig Club.
It was a beautiful day.
